Question:

how are traits and genes related?

Answers

Alleles are each of two or more alternative forms of a gene that are found at the same position in a chromosome. Traits on the other hand, are the characteristics that are defined by genes. So the combination of alleles for a gene is what manifests itself into a trait.

Traits are picked up genes are already there

.. it’s 4..

Because .. if you think about it, Each animal of certain genes/traits..

D

Explanation: It provides structure and protection to the cell.

Mendel's five-part hypothesis can be described as follows-

1) Genes ( that he called as a pair of factors) control particular characteristics/ traits of an organism.

2) One gene corresponds to one particular trait.

3) Traits are passed from  (e.g..plant height, seed color and shape) parents to their offspring in the form of genes.

4) When gametes (that is reproductive cells) are formed, the genes are segregated from one another so that each gamete has one variant of a gene ( allele).

5) If there are two different genes for a trait, one is expressed ( dominant) and other is hidden ( recessive).

Thus, the correct statements are -

A pair of factors (known as genes) control traits. One gene comes from each parent for every trait. Each trait is passed from generation to generation. When gametes are formed, genes separate. If there are two unlike genes, one may be seen while the other is hidden.

1,2,3,5,6 are the answer

1.

B) An allele is one form of a gene.

Explanation:

An allele refers to an alternative form of a gene. In other words it is one of the form of a gene.A gene may have two alleles, where one of the allele is a dominant allele and the other is a recessive allele. A homozygous organisms may be dominant or recessive, a homozygous recessive contains two recessive alleles while a homozygous dominant contains two dominant alleles.A heterozygous organisms contain one dominant allele and one recessive allele.

2. Answer;

B) Alleles

Explanation;

According to Mendel genes are inherited in pairs of alleles that behave in a dominant and recessive pattern. Alleles are alternative forms of a gene. A gene may have two alleles, where one of the allele is a dominant allele and the other is a recessive allele. A homozygous organisms may be dominant or recessive, a homozygous recessive contains two recessive alleles while a homozygous dominant contains two dominant alleles.

1. B

2. C

1.- How does the cell wal contribute to the function of the plant cell?

D  The cel wall provides strenght and rigidity.  This is because it is a double phospholipid membrane.

2.- The lowest level of organization in an organism is:

D  A cell, because cells are the independent units that make up the whole.  This is part of the cell theory

3.- Which of the following best indentifies a way in which organs in an organims are similar to organelles?

B both carry out specific functions.

4.- Wich organlle ina plant cell captures radiant energy from de Sun?

A.  Chloroplast

5 Mitchell created a diagram to describe the levels of organization within a multicellular organism

B. Mithcell reversed the order of tissues and organs.  The organs are made of tissues.

6.- The box lists three terms:  Genetic material

B.  In a cell´´s nucleus.

7.- Which statement best describes the relationship

A. An individual´s inherited traits are determined by genes, which are located inside a person´s chromosomes.

8.- Which of the following is NOT one of the main components of the cell theory?

A.- All cells produce their own food for survival.  This is not true, because only plant cells can do this

9.- Which form of techonolgy was essential for the development of the cell theory?

C. Microscope

10.- In a cell, gene mutations affect:

D. Production of proteins

Ans. A) Chromosomes contain pieces of information for traits, called genes.

Genes can be defined as segments of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) that codes for a specific product (either protein or RNA). Chromosomes represent thread-like structures, which are made up of protein and DNA, found in nuclei of eukaryotic organisms.

Chromosomes carry genetic information for several traits in the form of genes, means genes are present in chromosomes. For example, human chromosome 1 contains a total of 1961 genes.

Thus, the correct answer is option (A).
